1) What is your earliest memory in the kitchen?

I grew up around food. My parents would host 20 person dinner parties on the weekends so good food has was associated with gathering. I remember realizing that a great meal could be made at home, not just at a restaurant.

2) Who taught you how to cook?

I really learned in college. I had a roommate who was an incredible, yet incredibly messy, chef. I followed her around scrubbing as she went and I suppose symbiotically picked up a lot from that. I'd say she really was the one who kicked it off for me.

3) Do you cook to music?

Always - I make playlists for myself and for friends so I'm all over the place. Pressing play goes in the recipe with "Preheat oven".

4) What are your must have pantry items?

I feel like if I run out of Maldon the world might end.

5) What is your perfect night in?

Pressure cooker stew, Love Actually, a cup of tea and Straus cookies and cream ice cream with my wife.

6) How do you use Lula?

I start every meal with it. It's the first thing that hits the pan. I still like to use olive oil or butter, but I add them back after cooking.

Because it lives on my counter within reach of the stove, I find myself reaching for it more than any other oil in my kitchen.
